Welcome to Springwood High School Training School.
Our commitment to high quality initial teacher training and meaningful and enriching continued professional development for all school staff is the driving force behind our recent successful bid to become a training school. Springwood High School places the development of teaching and learning at the very heart of the school's work.
Teaching
The members of staff at Springwood High School, along with colleagues in the Opportunities West Norfolk Partnership, have developed considerable expertise in the training, mentoring and assessment of teachers. By maintaining their own expertise and keeping their knowledge up-to-date, these teachers not only continue to provide leading edge training, but enhance the standards of teaching and learning throughout the school. It is our firm belief that this expertise and professionalism can and should be shared with staff across the experience range. We do not simply seek to produce Qualified Teachers but rather to develop confident and reflective practitioners who could become our advanced skills teachers and school leaders of the future.Support Staff
We understand that no educational establishment can work effectively without a network of skilled, well trained and committed support staff. At Springwood High we firmly believe that training and development enhance individual professional advancement. We provide opportunities to take part in accredited courses such as SWIS and NVQ, seeking to provide individually tailored training to suit the needs of all staff, be it fire extinguisher training or first aid, dealing with challenging adult behaviour or ICT.Wider Community
Although initially we will be working mostly with schools, we will also pursue provision of training or a training venue for those agencies involved in children's services, uniformed services and the local authority. If there is a training need, we are happy to discuss how we are able to help organise or deliver it.
Venue
Within the next twelve months we hope to create a specific Training School building. In the interim we have some small conference facilities which we are happy to share with those offering training courses. Our conference room (suitable for up to 16) has an Interactive Whiteboard and we are happy to offer light refreshments.
