Welcome to Kinetic Theatre

Based at Springwood High School an 11-18 mixed comprehensive, specialists arts school, Kinetic Theatre was originally formed in 1992 when a group of sixth form pupils asked to perform a pantomime. Instead, they performed TS Eliot’s “Murder in the Cathedral” and have been doing challenging work ever since.

Productions have grown in size with cast and crews of over 150 a regular occurrence. In 1998 Springwood became a Specialist Arts School and Kinetic Theatre continued to grow to form Boomerang Theatre Company which toured Australia in 2002 and 2005. With so many interested students  they regularly put on two large scale performances a year, plus two talent shows and a Cabaret night.

The school has been so successful at promoting the Arts that it has  been necessary to set up the Techies. These are team of pupils trained in lighting, sound and back stage work who not only work on Kinetic Theatre shows but are available to run shows for our community partners.

The philosophy behind Kinetic Theatre is that as many pupils as possible will have the chance to participate in a production whether it is acting or backstage and enjoy the experience as well as learning new skills in the process.
